As seen in Flutter Magazine.
It would be easy to assume that Ashley and Tyler’s wedding was so special because I was gifted the opportunity to travel to Barcelona to photograph their day. Shooting in Spain was definitely a dream; I’m not going to lie about how incredible an experience that was for me. Casa Felix, the 12th-century masia where the couple hosted their big day, is an incredible venue; the hills of Olivella, just outside Sitges, is a picturesque setting (to put it mildly).
But then I met Ashley in person, and soon thereafter, I also met Tyler and their fur baby, Penny the poodle. And I fell in love with this sweet family and I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to be chosen to document their wedding. They could’ve gotten married on the side of the road in the bowels of Los Angeles, and I still would have been elated to be present.
Tyler, who wrote a love poem as part of his wedding day gift to his bride, brought his A-game with those ceremony vows (yes, I cried):
Ashley, you are more than I could have imagined a person could be. I swear to always put your needs before my own, to make your happiness my ambition, to encourage your growth and never hold you back, and to provide and care for you, no matter the circumstances. Words cannot express the gratitude that I owe you for coming into my life, for making me who I am, for the love that you’ve shown me. I’m incomplete without you. There are no half-measures; this vow I take is as serious and vital as my next breath. I will live this vow, and it will become me, marrow-deep.
And a little snippet from Ashley’s vows:
Ty, you have always been “the one” — the one to make me laugh, the one with all the answers, the one who will change my tires and brake pads. I love you for your absolute dedication to our home, our family. You’ve let me and encouraged me to grow while always accepting me for who I am. Through it all, you see me, know me, and love me. I promise to focus on what is right between us when times get hard; I promise to always hold your hand and say “I love you” every day. I vow to always be your advocate and champion. I promise to protect you above all others and be your family. I love you to the moon and back, and even though I cannot imagine loving you more than I do right now, I know I will tomorrow.
Ashley and Tyler’s wedding day was the embodiment of love, jubilation, being present. The vibe among family and friends was one of relaxed merriment and uninhibited appreciation for each other and the stunning surroundings, and everyone’s genuine adoration for the celebrated couple was apparent.
I had to break this blog post into two parts, because I simply couldn’t narrow down the selection of images any further — I’m too in love with their beautiful day and their love for each other.
Also, Felicia and I explored Casa Felix a bit the day before the wedding, and we found some amazing old documents, maps, and letters sent to the masia. It was such an incredible, authentic touch for some of our detail shots — we were so excited.
Anyway, enjoy, and stay tuned for part two next week. And HOLY CRAP, go get your copy of Flutter Magazine to see this gorgeousness in print!

[…] Part one of Ashley and Tyler’s wedding was on the blog last week. I had to split into two posts because I just could not narrow down my faves. So here are the images of Ash and Ty’s wedding reception at Casa Felix in Olivella, just outside Barcelona, Spain (also featured in Flutter Magazine‘s issue no. 12, now available in stores and online!).
