Claudia is my VERY. BEST. FRIEND. We met during the first week of our freshman year at University of California, Irvine; I remember liking her name and her haircut. The rest was history. We were in the same dormitory hall, then lived together in three different apartments during and after college. We were roommates for almost eight years, until I moved to Los Angeles for a new job and she moved to Arizona for grad school. I am so lucky and happy that we’ve remained close; Claudia is one of my favorite people and an incredible person. She’s confident and smart, and is a very supportive, encouraging friend. We got tattoos together. We adopted a dog together. We’ve laughed together and cried together, and some of my favorite memories are of me and Claudia giggling so hard I had to struggle to breathe. I’m so proud to call her my bestie.
And she’s getting MARRIED this year! It’s totally surreal, especially since we met at the tender age of 18, when we categorized marriage as something reserved exclusively for “grown-ups.” We’re still adjusting to the idea of being adults, but she’s taking the ultimate plunge by marrying Carlos in November. And no, I’m not photographing the wedding. I’m going to be a bridesmaid, hooray!
But I did shoot their engagement session. We had a lot (A LOT) of fun running around San Francisco, where Carlos and Claudia now live with their dog, Charlie (he makes an appearance in a couple of the photos).
I’m so freakin’ happy for my best friend and her husband-to-be.
